My name is Philip — or Phil — and I am a Swiss-Australian living in Zurich, Switzerland.
I've been working in the field of IT as a SOFTWARE-ENGINEER since the year 2000. Initially I started out being involved in the development of numerous eCommerce projects within the finance sector. Later I moved on to other new exciting projects in webdesign and development. Being involved in creating not only the back-end, but also the front-end of websites I developed a keen interest in image processing, design and photography.
With this newly developed skill and interest, I bought my first DSLR in 2004, a Nikon D70. Equipped with just the standard kit lens, my journey as a PHOTOGRAPHER began. Learning the technical aspects of aperture, focal-length and shutter-speed and with the internet as a powerful resource, I slowly started to learn by doing. I had found a new challenge. The more pictures I took, the more the hunger grew to take photography even further. From capturing plants and bugs, I started discovering Switzerland and the Alps. Going farther and higher, I soon not only wanted to capture landscapes at sunsets and sunrises but also stars and our galaxy. A new passion had emerged within me. I then went full frame in 2009 when I upgraded my little D70 to a professional grade Nikon D700. Since then, I am regularly out in the field, in the Alps, traveling the world, discovering exciting new places, driven to capture striking landscapes in the best possible quality. I've captured landscapes in North- and South-America, all over Europe, many places within Switzerland and the Alps and parts of Asia and Australia.
When I am not out in the field taking pictures, I am probably at my desk programming. With the extensive experience I gained working on numerous web projects, I decided one day that I not only wanted to program websites, but offer these services as a hosting provider as well. In 2009 I founded my own company that specializes in domain registrations, web- and email-hosting. As an ENTREPRENEUR, it is one of my daily goals to challenge myself and reach new heights. — What's next?
